UI + UX Designer

For a cross-platform creative application serving gamemasters of tabletop role-playing games

Campaign Composer is a creative tool for TTRPG gamemasters (GMs) incorporating all the core workflows involved in creating and running a campaign, either in person or virtually. Recognizing the commonalities between TTRPGs and seasonal TV shows, Campaign Composer combines into a unified experience the tools of world-building, plotting, scene writing, media management, and production scheduling. Gamemastering additionally calls for novel solutions, such as the need to incorporate improvisation into long-term structured storytelling.

A pure UI designer would focus on turning wireframes into polished mockups; a senior UX+UI designer would use research and their knowledge of the TTRPG space to design application behavior and produce wireframes as well. Both roles are an option.

Commitment

  • 80 hours/month, 20 hrs/week average

  • Steady work through at least 01/2024

  • 1 regular weekly design meeting plus periodic others

  • Responsiveness to ad-hoc issues within 24 business hours; reasonable exceptions pre-arranged

Responsibilities - Core / UI

  • Turn wireframes into polished mockups

  • Produce elegant implementations while keeping effort scoped to meet a timetable

  • Design cross-platform UIs that feel unified yet at home on each native platform

  • Report to CEO/head of product

Responsibilities - UX (TTRPG domain knowledge required)

While the baseline need is to turn out polished designs, an applicant with UX experience would qualify for a more senior role, as long as they already know the TTRPG space.

  • Conduct user research, explore designs, and produce wireframes.

  • Work with CEO & CTO to maintain an accurate design & development roadmap

  • Lead accessibility efforts

Requirements

  • Fluent in using Figma, including components and variants

  • 3 years combined application design experience

  • Experience using and expanding on existing design systems

  • Experience with any rapid, iterative engineering lifecycle

  • Desktop application design (macOS OR Windows, preferably both) experience a plus
